At five minutes
and 21 seconds, Jhoom wasn’t just the
second-longest version of the title track of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, but it is also the Hindi word meaning to swoon
– which, ironically, is something no self-respecting fan of Hindi film music
would admit to doing while listening to the track, which Gulzar penned.
Having said
that, it wasn’t a poor track per se – in fact, it was the second-best of the
three versions.
The only solo on
the film’s soundtrack, it was rendered by Shankar Mahadevan, who composed it
with Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa.
