Diehard
romantics adored Tumhi Dekho Na, the
song from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which
was rendered by Sonu and Alka Yagnik, whose N(ig)ames have become inextricably
linked to such tracks.
It wouldn’t be
incorrect to state that the song, which was five minutes and 50 seconds long
and penned by Javed Akhtar, continues to rank among the best compositions by
Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa.
It is not only the
pair on screen who was surprised. So were the listeners, especially those who believe
that most of today’s Hindi film songs lack melody.
